How Sofrigam Integrated Logmore Temperature Monitoring to Thermal Boxes and Pallet Shippers

1.

Situation

At the end of 2020, the global cold chain infrastructure faced significant challenges in supporting the volume of vaccine deployment. Organizations involved in cold chain logistics had made substantial investments to meet the critical demand for vaccine deployment, while also addressing the ongoing need for transporting food, chemicals, and other pharmaceutical products.

Experts in pharmaceutical transport solutions, Sofrigam, have acknowledged the negative impact of mishandling the cold chain, which results in frequent and significant waste of medication. With four decades of experience, Sofrigam is now expanding their range of product services to develop advanced smart packaging transport solutions specifically designed for pharmaceutical logistics. Their goal is to reduce product loss on a global scale.

Integrated packaging enables temperature analysis of the products without exposing them to the external environment, making it ideal for vaccine deliveries.

Sofrigam wanted to create a new pallet shipper solution that would be the perfect midpoint between quality and cost-effectiveness. As a result, the Pallet Shipper INITIAL Cargo was created. Sofrigam calls the Pallet Shipper INITIAL Cargo the responsible choice.

The INITIAL Cargo Pallet Shipper offers this compromise in terms of performance for the environmental impact and ease of use. To complement the pallet shipper, Sofrigam needed to include a cost-effective temperature monitoring system.

Solution

Sofrigam had already integrated the Logmore data loggers to the Elite Cubic parcel shippers and Vacciboxes, so they had an idea for a suitable solution in mind.

“We found the technology used and developed by Logmore very interesting because it was a good compromise between USB recorders, which require a lot of manual operations, and real-time management, which also has its constraints and is not positioned in the same way in terms of cost.”, says Laurence Labranque, General Manager at Sofrigam.

Sofrigam wished to innovate on the pallet shipper market which presents little innovation and which tends to no longer respond to the economic and environmental problems of pharmaceutical players. By developing the Pallet Shipper INITIAL Cargo, Sofrigam Group has provided its customers and the market with a solution that is adapted to their needs as closely as possible, by bringing to the table all the internal skills that make up Sofrigam's expertise: research, design, construction and production. And to bring the product to a definite added value proposition, by pushing it as far as the associated services and its digitalization, thanks to Logmore.

“With Sofrigam, from the beginning, the relationship was opened to think together about how to bring a unique solution to pharma customers. Where SOFRIGAM is committed to creating this box that will have no excursion, we at Logmore just put a proof of value on top. What we want to offer at Logmore is to have a solution that is very simple to use. It's just a matter of scanning the QR code on the unit to know the temperature of the whole shipment, without having a complex solution, without having to open the container. So, it's true that it's a nice manufacturing that Sofrigam has offered us.", says Elise Bressac, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Logmore.

Results

The synergy is there. The product, presented at LogiPharma 2023 in Lyon, sent a strong message to pharma players: Sofrigam group is shaking up the market to direct it towards the right connected choice, at the right price, and above all, the responsible one.

"At Sofrigam Group, we have strong ambitions in terms of development, with an assumed external growth. We really need to broaden our offer to the markets and to our various customers. We also want to integrate vertically to control the entire value chain and to maintain our dynamic innovation. We tend to say at Sofrigam: "Yes, we've been around for 40 years, but we're cultivating our start-up and innovative spirit", Labranque says.
